I'm Essie.

I live in coastal Down East Maine. I am a Registered Nurse, a Photographer, and most importantly I’m a Mom to a beautiful, sweet and spunky 9 year old, and 3 and a half year old twin girls!

Obviously they are my favorite subjects.

I believe the most meaningful photographs aren’t perfectly posed - they’re the quiet glances, wind-blown hair, muddy toddler feet, and the way your family naturally fits together.

I love gardening, cats, tea, my husband, and chasing my girls around the house just to hear their deepest belly laughs. I love our family, I love our moments.

Having children of my own has helped me to become a better photographer - they have taught me patience, the importance of slowing down and living in the moment. They have made me a better person, a better artist. They have taught me the importance of time.

I specialize in telling the stories of families through every season of life - from engagements and weddings to the beautiful, everyday moments of raising children.

I believe photographs are about so much more than how a moment looks; they are about how it feels. I love connection, genuine emotion, and the little in-between moments that make your family uniquely yours. The laughter, the quiet embraces, the messy toddler curls, the way your child reaches for your hand - these are the memories we all long to return to.

While I will always create beautiful portraits of your family, some of my favorite images are the ones that unfold naturally. The unposed moments often become the photographs my clients treasure most because they capture who you truly are.

My goal is to create imagery that tells your story honestly and beautifully—photographs that feel timeless, personal, and meaningful for generations to come.

A photograph is a moment held still. It is a way of preserving a feeling, a season of life, and a memory that would otherwise pass all too quickly. I’ve often wished I could bottle up those fleeting moments - the way your child laughs, the way your family fits together, the feeling of being exactly where you are in life. Photography is the closest thing we have to preserving those pieces of time forever.

If you’d like to learn more, I’d love to hear from you. Send me a message, give me a call, or better yet - join me for tea in the greenhouse and let’s talk about your story.

I’m incredibly grateful when clients invite me into these meaningful seasons of their lives. And the greatest compliment is when clients return year after year, becoming not just familiar faces, but true friends.
